A Wide Variety of EMS Gear And EMT Supplies To Make Your Life Easier!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

When it comes to different jobs there are obviously going to require different kinds of equipment and supplies you are going to have to use and buy. For EMS professionals and EMT professionals in comes products and supplies like vests, accessories, flashlights, medical kits, bags and so on. Obviously some of this stuff you can purchase using the facilities money where you work or some will automatically be given to you because it’s a part of the job. But other products like flashlights, watches, boots, jackets, pants would be products you would have to buy on your own with your own money. In cases like this, I know that we oftentimes wish there was a cheaper way around it.

We know we can’t buy less quality items because they really have to stand up to the test of time, but we also can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars every time we need a new supply product. One of the things you could do, and it’s what most medical professionals do, is to look online. There you will be able to find the same high quality products you love, but at an actual price you can be happy with. Products such as:

Outerwear: These are going to be items like vests, jackets, winterized boots, gloves, etc. Again, all of these items are available to you for a reason! Outerwear offers functionality you can definitely get used to. Everything from licensed and official pants and boots to clothing items like jackets and vests that offer ample room for all your mini supplies. Jackets and vests are also made so that they are waterproof, tear proof and insulated!

Gear Bags: Something as important as this is going to need to be functional and dependable. You should go for a flexible bag that can serve all of your needs from travel to on site situations. These bags are great for anyone in the health professionals as well as law enforcement agents, special ops, fire rescue, etc. These types of bags are all about handling your gear and keeping it safely intact!

Flashlights: These are definitely more of a personal option, but they can also be called for on jobs when it’s dark, to wave someone down, or even as a weapon — if need be! For the most part you will want an affordable yet very rugged set of standards for your flashlight. A little plastic yellow light you find in most homes just won’t do! You need something that has long battery time, different types of illumination, etc. Options are a must in my opinion! Pick a light that feels good in your hands, easy to use, and one that is lightweight. Popular brands that come to mind could be considered more “tactical” especially the recommended Streamlight.

Multi-purpose Tools: It seems like these tools always come in handy when you least expect it! One of the most popular brands for a multi purpose tool is obviously going to be Leatherman – good prices, great options, and a lot of variety to choose from! You always need to have a set of wire cutters, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, lanyard attachments, scissors and they better be in one convenient deice. Definitely a personal item, but it can also come into use!

Of course there are other mentions as well such as shirts, watches, eye wear and helmets, but the above-mentioned are some of the more popular products when it comes to EMS gear, EMT supplies and emergency medicine supplies as far as person products go.

You are going to find some really great prices, but you will have to look around a bit. I would certainly suggest finding a website that ONLY sells EMS gear, EMT supplies and emergency medical supplies because you will probably have a better chance finding what you need at a store like this rather than a store that sells a little bit of everything.

Medical Laboratory Supplies are the Basic Need to Maintain a Clean and Organized Laboratory

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Whether for conducting experiments or educating students or for performing research, laboratories require a mass of accessories and supplies for carrying out the above mentioned tasks. Therefore, maintaining a controlled and clean laboratory is a must. The laboratory supplies are the first and the foremost products to fulfill that need.

Medical laboratory supplies include the analyzers, pumps, racks, meters, centrifuges, scales, microscopes, incubators, and refrigeration. These equipments are kept in the laboratories for further research related to pharmaceutical and other medicinal purposes. The area of focus may include microbiology to cytogenetics to urinalysis. These subjects are approached from different perspectives.

To perform any task a medical lab should maintain a certain amount of cleanliness. The laboratory organizers should see to it that the lab is kept clean and free from any kind of disorder.

Manufacturing process

The medical supply industry is one of the large and growing markets with various manufacturing portfolio. The products manufactured by them satisfy the needs of not only medical labs but also of doctors, surgeons, and hospitals across the world. These products are made by using different manufacturing processes.

One such process is the metalworking process, which is one of the important aspects of the medical supply industry. For instance syringes and hypodermic needles are common metal products that are in high demand. These syringes are made by drawing stainless steel through a secure die block. The metal is then rolled into a hollow tube and is further cut into syringes.

Sutures are used for stitching wounds. They are also made the same way as syringes are made. However, there is a subtle difference in the manufacturing process. Unlike the syringes the sutures are rolled into half or quarter circlers.

Some medicinal apparatus are used as disposables so they are also made of plastics. For example, in a syringe the body, barrel, and plunger are made of injection molded plastic. This is done in order to stick to the cleanliness standards of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Latex gloves are manufactured by molding latex, nitrile, and rubber into a liquid. This liquid, laid over various hand sizes are allowed to cool. They are then washed and dried in vacuum.

You can buy medical laboratory equipment from suppliers. These suppliers offer varied products from some of the top brands like Kimberly-Clarke, Bayer, Siemens, Procare, and 3M. The suppliers also offer discounts on the products ordered helping you to save more.

Medical Insurance And Durable Medical Equipment

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Did you know that most people move to Canada from the United States simply for the state health insurance? All right, that is not true, but most people wouldlove to have free health insurance. Hospital stays, ambulance fees, and necessary medications are extremely expensive. If you find yourself in the hospital for as little as two days and you are not insured, you could find yourself in massive amounts of debt. They might have just hooked you up to an EKG machine, stuck in an IV, and monitored you closely and you still owe over $10,000.

The single largest group of uninsured Americans is individuals in their twenties. Most children are on their parent’s insurance until the age of 19; this coverage is extended if they are in college. Large companies and corporations offer their employees benefits such as health insurance for them and their entire family; however, most young people do not have the opportunity for these types of jobs. Most entry-level positions do not provide any benefits and thepay is so low that it is barely enough to pay for rent and food let alone medical insurance! As a result, most young people simply cannot afford to pay for medical supplies or even doctor’s check-ups.

Lawmakers agree that the large numbers of uninsured twenty-year-olds is something that needs to be fixed because if they did require medical help, these individuals are suddenly in a large amount of debt. Several plans have been proposed in different states to remedy this problem but no one solution has yet been found.

Individuals who do reach the age of 65 years old, however, do have state health insurance, which is know as Medicare. This program pays for several types of check-ups and procedures. Medicare is also obligated to pay for different types of medical equipment such as power wheelchairs, iron lungs, and oxygen tents. The equipment for which the Medicare program is obligated to pay for those who qualify is defined as durable medical equipment.

If you want to find out health insurance policies in your state, look up your state’s department of health website. Health insurance is extremely important!

Uses for Home Medical Equipment

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Most people are not entirely sure what home medical equipment entails. In truth, this term is very general and encompasses many different items. Basically, it is any piece of medical supply equipment that you can use outside of a medical care facility. For example, it would be impossible for someone to stay in the hospital for weeks just so that a broken arm can heal. They do not need constant medical attention nor are they unable to function normally without supervision. All they need is time for their arm to heal. Therefore, the doctor sets the bone, secures it with a plaster cast, and provides a sling so that they person can go home and heal. In this case, the sling would be considered a piece of home medical equipment.

Other examples are items that fall under the terms of bariatric medical equipment, equipment for elderly or handicapped individuals, and diabetic equipment. Bariatrics is the study of the causes, treatment, and prevention of obesity. People who have severe weight problems have difficulty moving around, getting in and out of bed, and bathing. Elderly individuals also have trouble moving from room to room. The bathroom is the most dangerous place for mobility-impaired people because there are more chances to slip and further injure themselves. Hand bars for the toilet and the bathtub as well as seats for the bathing area are all considered medical equipment and are very helpful to have in the home.

Another reason you might need to look into home medical equipment is if you or a loved one needs special machines or other items in your house for in-home care. Hospitals are not the most peaceful places. If you are trying to recover from an illness, it is much more ideal to undergo this recovery in the comfort of your own home.  Your recovery will be much faster with your loved ones around you! Having the proper medical machines right in your bedroom gives you the medical care that you need without you having to pay for the long hospital stay.

To learn more about medical equipment or home care medical equipment, start researching these topics online. You will be amazed by how much information is available!
